Einar Einarsson On Location In Langjokull
Einar Einarsson is a long-term location scout and expert on the Langjokull glacial region of western Iceland. He has worked with Christopher Nolan on Interstellar and a whole slew of movies from Star Wars: The Last Jedi to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and The Lord of the Rings.
He has found Iceland’s far-reaching vistas perfectly suited to movie making. A filmmaker could shoot the arid lowlands of Mars, the plains of Middle Earth and the salt flats of Planet Crait (Star Wars) all in a single day, such is the landscape's extraordinary depth of mood and variety.
With his specially adapted Ford truck and 46-inch tyres, Einar can get pretty much anywhere, including the top of the Langjokull where the ice is 200m thick. Even in summer the wind blows at 40kts in August and the ground temperature barely creeps above zero.
Einar is pictured above on location wearing the new Shackleton super lightweight and insulated SUMMIT JACKET.
Below Einar wears a Shackleton favourite: the heavy knit SIGNATURE SWEATER.
